Stefan Winkler, director of Goethe Institute Pakistan, and PASCH Coordinator at Goethe Institute Ms. Naurin Zaki visited Roots International School, Wellington Campus, here.
Mr. Wrinkler was highly impressed with the passion with which Roots students are pursuing their German Language programme, particularly the fluency with which they have developed their German Language skills is highly commendable and their amazing contribution to enhance relations between Germany and Pakistan.
During his visit to Roots International Schools (RIS), he expressed his gratitude to Sara Walid, executive director of RIS saying "It is a great pleasure to visit RIS and experience the astounding progress of students taking German language, the enthusiasm and energy of the students is alluring". Roots International Schools introduced German Language Programme six years back in collaboration with PASCH by Walid Mushtaq, CEO of RIS. It is the brainchild of Walid Mushtaq, who instigated this program in all RIS branches across the country.
Mr. Wrinkler and Mrs. Sara Walid, also discussed about how they can promote knowledge of the German language, foster international cultural cooperation and can convey a comprehensive picture of Germany by providing information on Germany's cultural, social and political life in RIS schools.
Mr. Wrinkler explained that through the network of Goethe-Institutes, Goethe Centres, cultural societies and reading rooms; they draw on the rich variety of our many-faceted open society and Germany's lively culture. They face the cultural policy challenges of globalization and develop innovative concepts for a world made more human through mutual understanding, where cultural diversity is seen as an asset.”
Discussions involved planning for the exciting “hands-on” RIS participation in the German theatre, concerts, film festivals, musical plays, art ventures, digital exhibitions organized by the Goethe Institute.
The Department of Foreign Languages has designed courses in German to meet global needs and turn these foreign languages into an asset for those who intend to join multinational companies and look for opportunities abroad. The Department of Foreign Languages is headed by CEO Walid Mushtaq and Head of Foreign Languages department Kulsoom Tanvir and it consists of well qualified faculty members. In an increasingly connected world, foreign language proficiency is more important than ever.
The idea behind German Language initiative at Roots is to gear up our students for a strong and prosperous future. RIS not only wants to give children education but also intends to awaken an interest & understanding for other cultures of the world.
