The National University of Modern Languages (NUML) conferred PhD degree in English Linguistics on Ilyas Chishti here on Tuesday. He was an HEC scholar, says a press release.
Ilyas Chishti successfully defended his thesis before a panel of veteran academicians. His thesis was titled ‘Discursive Construction of Local Culture in Schimmel’s Analysis of Sufi Poetry.’ He conducted his research under the supervision of Dr Samina Amin Qadir, vice chancellor of the FJWU. Dr Aalia Sohail Khan and Dr Nighat Ahmed were the external and the internal examiners respectively.
