HOLDING countrywide protests and rallies against ignoring the involvement of the US and India in Balochistan unrest, the Defence of Pakistan Council (DPC) on Friday warned the PPP-led government that it would not be allowed to repeat the East Pakistan-like dirty game in Balochistan.

Threatening of a full fledged movement for the rights of Baloch people across the country, speakers of protests demanded that in order to pre-empt conspiracies by the US and India in the mineral rich province, rights of Balochs should be immediately ensured by allowing their due share of natural resources, punishing the killer of Akbar Bugti and halting the spate of missing persons and discoveries of mutilated bodies.

The DPC leaders said the PPP leadership must keep the violent elimination of all main characters of the East Pakistan disintegration conspiracy namely ZA Bhutto and Shaikh Mujib, warning that Washington had a history of quick disposal of used agents. They also demanded those responsible for national defence to immediately halt drone attacks before they were carried out on them instead of helpless tribal people and the MFN status to India should be withdrawn before Pakistan’s industry could crumble altogether.

In Lahore, the DPC took out a large rally from Chauburji Chowk to the Press Club where a public meeting was held. Addressing the slogan chanting and banners waving crowd, the leaders demanded rulers take quick and effective counter measures to neutralise the US-India conspiracy aimed at disintegrating Balochistan by fanning separatist movement in the garb of right to self-determination.

Addressing the rally participants, Jamaat-ud-Dawah Ameer Hafiz Muhammad Saeed warned the Washington of Soviet Union-like fate if it did not refrain from conspiracies against Pakistan. He moved a resolution passed by the crowd that called for disintegration of both the US and India on account of gross violations of human rights and international laws. He prophesised that a nuclear Pakistan would very soon assume a leading role in the world affairs if only its leadership learnt to stand on their feet, adding that no ship could cruise through the Arabian Sea or Indian Ocean besides the vital Nato supplies without Islamabad’s willingness.

Giving details of the DPC leadership’s meeting with all shades of Baloch leaders, Hafiz Saeed said there was no separatist movement in Balochistan and only the US and India were making a baseless propaganda to cover up their own conspiracies.

JI leader Amirul Azeem said religious leaders had issued several warnings to PPP rulers about international conspiracies in Balochistan but they always trumpeted Gen Musharraf like clarification that ‘there is no outside involvement in Balochistan but they are all domestic elements.’ Calling PPP rulers as agents of Jews and Hindus, Azim accused them of carrying out masters’ conspiracy in Balochistan.

Yaqoob Sheikh of Jamaat-ud-Dawah warned Prime Minister Gillani against issuing ‘Sultan Rahi’ like shouts against the DPC leaders for being ‘non-representatives’, and said the PM should instead counter enemy conspiracies.

Tahir Mehood Ashrafi of the Pakistan Ulema Council condemned interior minister Rehman for calling trial of Osama Bin Laden’s wives and children, and warned that if he ever did that he would found himself hiding to evade public wrath.

Pir Saifullah Khalid, Hafiz Abdul Ghaffar Rupari, Ali Imran Shaheen, Asim Makhdoom, Mian Qadeer, Shamsur Rehman, Naeem Badshah, Hafiz Masood and Latif Suraa advocate also addressed. Delivering Friday sermon at Mansoorah masjid, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Syed Munawwar Hasan said unfortunately rulers considered military operation as panacea for all ills and had tried it time and again although it had always horrible results. Military action in East Pakistan ended up in the emergence of Bangladesh. He said fifth military operation was going on in Balochistan due to which the situation was getting worse day by day.

However, he said the situation was not out of control as yet. In fact, the US has been working on its agenda in Balochsitan since long, as it wants to split the area in Afghani, Irani and Pakistani Balochistan, occupy its rich resources and also use it for attacking Iran and Pakistan after its exit from Afghanistan. It is tragic that instead of striving to resolve the issue, Pakistani rulers are advancing the US interests. The international media had revealed the US designs before long but rulers kept upon sleeping with the result that feelings of hatred in Balochistan people got deep. He said it was ridiculous that the government that had doled out Rs 380 million for senate’s seats should be content only to call the APC on Balochistan. He deplored that that the ministers and parliamentarians from Balochistan were also not worried about the Balochistan situation and were only interested in their perks.

Continuing, the JI Ameer said it was an irony that the government which had given red carpet farewell to Pervez Musharraf was now pasting summons on his door.

He said that Nawab Akbar Bugti’s killing in a military operation was not the proper way to deal with the man, as he should have been given an opportunity to clear his position regarding allegations against him.
