Adviser to Balochistan Chief Minister on Education Sardar Raza Muhammad Barrech has lauded Punjab University Vice Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran for providing free education and residential facilities and monthly scholarship to Baloch students.
Talking to a delegation of Baloch students during his visit to PU, he said because of revolutionary steps by Dr Kamran, students from Balochistan had found an exceptional opportunity to get quality education at higher level in Pakistan’s most prestigious university.
Chairman of Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Dr Nizamuddin, Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Punjab Parliamentary Secretary Higher Education Mehwish Sultan, senior analyst Ch Akram, Secretary Education Department, Balochistan, Abdul Saboor, PU acting Treasurer Rao Muhammad Sharif and Baloch students were present.
Addressing the meeting, Sardar Raza Khan said hundreds of thousands of children were deprived of education in Balochistan and the government wanted to get benefit from Punjab’s model for introducing educational reforms in the province. He thanked Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for facilitating Baloch students in Punjab.
Dr Mujahid Kamran said Baloch students were full of talent. The students from Balochistan enrolled at Punjab University informed Sardar Raza Muhammad that the facilities being provided to them by PU administration were not being provided by any other university in Pakistan. They said the students who had completed their education from PU had got jobs in their province.
Later, PU VC Dr presented a souvenir to the delegates.
PhDs: Punjab University (PU) has awarded PhD degrees to three scholars in different subjects.
According to a press release, Iftikhar Ahmed s/o Noor Ahmed has been awarded a PhD degree in the subject of Punjabi after the approval of his thesis titled “Contribution of Pakistani “Special” Writers in Punjabi Literature”, Muhammad Ijaz s/o Muhammad Mushtaq in the subject of History after the approval of his thesis titled “Saarc: Managing Conflicts and Development in South Asia” and Mudassar Hassan Abbasi s/o Ayub ul Hassan Abbasi in Zoology.
