Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has introduced and implemented most cost-effective, result-oriented, and efficient models of free schooling for the deserving children. According to a handout, this was stated by PEF Managing Director Dr Aneela Salman while addressing a tri-partite discussion session on the public private partnership and low-cost schooling at a local hotel on Saturday. Besides PEF DMD (F) Salman Anwar Malik and Programme Directors, the meeting was also attended by selected partner school owners as well as World Bank’s senior education specialist Ms. Scherezad J. Monami Latif, Ms. Huma Waheed, Mr. Amit Dar and Ms. Claudia Costin.
Briefing the participants about the role and future targets of the foundation, Dr. Aneela Salman said the PEF was targeting to provide free education to 2.8 million needy students by 2018 adding that different expansion phases were launched every year to help more and more students to get free education through partner schools. Keeping in view the success and cost-effectiveness of PEF’s public private partnership based models, it had been decided that new schools would be opened through the platform of PEF in Punjab.
