Alone in Peshawar, according to government officials and elected representatives, three people recently died of d dengue virus in Mushtarzai area of Peshawar.
The residents and elected representatives held the government and particularly the Health Department responsible for the dengue outbreak in rural areas of the provincial capital.
Mohammad Javed, nazim of union council Mushtarzai, complained that hundreds of people were suffering from dengue virus but the health department didn’t bother to send the doctors to prevent other healthy people from being affected by the virus.
According to the elected representatives, the government came out of hibernation when the media reported the dengue outbreak and affected people in rural areas of Peshawar.
Health experts said the Health Department should have started preparations from February and March to prevented the disease as the government knew the virus was existing in the area and claimed several lives two years ago.
