Man held over global child porn racket

FIA arrests a man for blackmailing minors in US and UK after tricking them into sending their nude pictures through online platforms

International agencies traced a global child pornography ring traced to Pakistan following which the Federal Investigation Agency’s Cyber Crime Circle Karachi arrested a suspect in Soldier Bazaar on Tuesday for blackmailing minors in the US and the UK after tricking them into sending their nude pictures and posting them on websites.
FIA Cyber Crime Circle Karachi deputy director Mohammed Ahmed Zaeem told The News that case was detected by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), US. The NCMEC then contacted the Islamabad office of the US Homeland Security Investigation, which informed FIA Islamabad National Response Centre for Cyber Crime deputy director Tahir Tanveer about the case. The assistance of Interpol was also sought.
The complaint was forwarded along with the traced IP addresses, email addresses, screen names, Skype ID, cell phone number etc to the FIA’s Karachi wing after which a team raided a flat at Zohra Castle compound in Mohallah Parsi Colony, Soldier Bazaar and arrested Zainul Abidin, who ran multiple Facebook accounts by the name of Zain Kasmani..
With these accounts and his Skype ID, Zain manipulated minors in the US and the UK to send him their pictures after which he blackmailed them.
He used the Logon Networks Service with the subscriber information of his brother, Danish. He confessed to pressuring minors to send him content that he could later misuse.
Besides his own internet connection, he also he used his neighbours’ Wi-Fi service.
Zain said he used his accounts on his cell phone. The FIA team took his phone and SIM into custody and arrested Zain.
Zain, 24, had also obtained the explicit content on the platforms of his victims’ friends.
A recent activity of his account “Zain Kasmani” on Facebook reveals that he a new account “Zain Kasmani 5” was created with the same profile image that was also linked to the Skype profile and the email address.
The activity logs from April 1 to August 21, 2015 indicate that the old account “Zain.Kasmani 1” was deleted on April 7. The logs indicate that the account was created on September 3, 2008 and linked by the user to the email address.
The logs for the new account “Zain Kasmani 5” indicate that account was created on April 30 and linked to the email address zkasmani27@gmail.com. This profile was linked to the phone number and the user last logged into the account on July 25.
The IP addresses procured from both the networking companies revealed as the user as Danish 12, with addresses in Numaish Karachi and Parsi Colony Society, Soldier Bazaar.
