An improvised explosive device was found at the police counter-terrorism department’s Civil Lines headquarters and defused by the bomb disposal squad.
CTD intelligence wing chief SSP Amir Farooqi said after finding a suspicious bag at the headquarters’ parking lot, the place was cleared and the bomb disposal squad called in.
The squad found a bomb inside the bag and defused it. The explosive materials, he said, was concealed inside metal tubes and the bomb weighed around half a kilogramme.
The SSP said that the CTD was going through the CCTV footage to find out who had planted the explosive. He added that there was an under-construction building near the CTD headquarters and somebody might have thrown bag from there.
