The Jang Group is providing a better platform for students by organising this education exhibition, which would give them a chance to learn more about course outlines being offered by local and international universities and also help them in choosing right educational institutions for their future careers.
These views were expressed by Sindh Education Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro on Friday. He was the guest of honour at The News Education Expo 15 that opened at the Expo Centre. The three-day exhibition has been organised by the Jang Group.
Local and international educational institutions, the British Council and the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan have put up about 150 stalls at the show for career counselling of visitors. Sarmad A. Ali and Uzma Zia Rizvi of the Jang Group welcomed the education minister and the chief minister at the exhibition.
The minister said education helped people become better citizens. “The Jang Group is establishing a connection between educational institutes and parents and this role of bridging the gap between two major entities will definitely help in producing good citizens for future.”
A proper education could help the masses in knowing about their rights, becoming an educated nation and giving them the ability to think to resolve longstanding issues, Khuhro said.
One of the objectives enunciated in the manifesto of the PPP government was to provide equal opportunities to all so that a merit-base system could be strongly rooted in society, he said. He added that credit should be given to his government for establishing private and public educational institutions which were offering original degrees after completing the educational process. “I am honoured to come here for the third time and would like to come again and again in future.”
Large numbers of people along with their children visited various stalls and took interest in presentations made by representatives and consultants of universities and professional colleges.
The controller of examinations of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi, Noman Ashan, visited the exhibition and said it was a nice effort to bring so many educational institutions under one roof to facilitate the masses.
The deputy manager of marketing and communications, ICAP-Karachi, Asad Taj, said students having sufficient knowledge about commerce had shown a lot of interest in the course. The ICAP graduates were serving the country and foreign offices as chartered accountants were certified and well-qualified.
International companies liked to hire Pakistani CAs due to their hard work and skills and also because they were more organised and composed than CAs of other countries, he said.
Maha Adil, who has recently taken her intermediate examinations, said she was visiting stalls with her parents and willing to take enroll in a marketing programme. “We have collected some information from universities offering courses in the field of my interest and I am sure this exhibition will help me in choosing right educational institute for my future.”
The visitors also collected information from the stalls of Hajama and Quran Academy and showed interest in law courses being offered by the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto University of Law. One of the visitors, Murad Ali, said he was keen to go aboard for higher studies. He said the exhibition would provide him with a lot of help as there were plenty of foreign universities’ stalls at the event.
Muhammad Ahmed Ali, another visitor, said he had collected enough information, which would help him in selecting a right programme. The visitors appreciated the efforts of The News and suggested that the Jang Group should conduct more programmes to guide the public in other fields as well.
