LAHORE: The police under the National Action Plan (NAP) carried out search operations in six seminaries in the provincial metropolis and checked identification papers and other related documents of 1,500 students. The police also issued advisory letters to the administration of the seminaries in connection with security related issues and warned them that nobody should be given admission without complete documents.
Police registered 19 cases on violation of Tenants Act and Loudspeaker Act during the last two days besides rounding up 110 proclaimed offenders and court absconders. Police checked hotels, inns, guesthouses, railway station, Lorri Adda and other bus stands and took action against eight people out of 31 suspects who had failed to produce their identity papers for checking on demand. Police registered two cases under Foreigners Act and sent the two persons to jail.
Police arrested 39 drug pushers and recovered 17-kg charas, 14-kg bhang and 1-kg opium from their possession. Police arrested 34 people and recovered 21 pistols, eight rifles and guns and 750 bullets and cartridges from their possession. Police arrested 26 gamblers and recovered valuables as stake money.
