PESHAWAR: The employees of the Irrigation Department Friday staged a protest against the reported torture on government employees and non-upgradation of technical and non-technical staff of the department.
The demonstration was led by president Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Irrigation Employees Federation Tehseenullah, general secretary Rabnawaz Khan Khattak, Hazrat Bacha and others. The protesters were of the opinion that the provincial government instead of giving them their rights subjected them to severe torture.
They said that the chief minister had promised upgradation of the technical and non-technical staff from grade-1 to 16 in December last year and had assured to issue notification within 10 days, but the promise could not be materialise so far. They threatened of province-wide protest drive, if the government failed to accept their demands..
