ISLAMABAD: The MQM parliamentary delegation will have an important meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif here at the PM House today (Friday) to discuss the Karachi operation, where the MQM is also becoming a subject of action.
The delegation will convey the message of its leader Altaf Hussain to the prime minister. Well-placed sources told The News on Thursday that the government had no plan to go easy in action for eliminating criminals and terrorists in Karachi irrespective of their identity. The intelligence-based actions are yielding positive outcomes. The prime minister is likely to explain to the MQM delegation that the administration respects its party as a political entity but no criminal who takes refuge in the name of any political party or in any other fashion would be tolerated.
The MQM isn’t being targeted as a political party but the criminals and terrorists wouldn’t be permitted to roam freely in any manner in any part of the country. The sources said the prime minister was willing to address any genuine problem being faced by the MQM or any other political party. It is unlikely that any respite would be available to any criminal as a result of today’s meeting.
The MQM will put across its version on the raid on Nine Zero last week, the sources hinted. The MQM delegation will be led by its parliamentary leader in the National Assembly Abdul Rashid Godail and Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Dr Farooq Sattar will be accompanying him.
