Relief package for staff of mosques demanded
LAHORE:Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI) President and leader of Jamiat Ahle Hadith Allama Zubair Ahmad Zaheer has demanded the federal and Punjab governments provide a special relief and ration package to the prayer leaders, Khateeb and staff of mosques and seminaries, besides waiving the utility bills for next three months.
Ulema and prayer leades of mosques and seminaries have been discharging their duties for creating awareness and preventing spread of coronavirus, but they suffering from serious financial hardships and poverty.
He said the government had announced relief and ration for poor families and it was time the poor among the mosque and seminaries staff should also be provided with the promised relief. He said the majority of mosques and seminaries were without regular financial resources like rented shops associated with their properties, and run their expenses with donations. He said, unfortunately, the government had so far failed to materialise its promises of the relief and ration package to the poor, and a huge number of people were running from pillar to post for obtaining food and other basic necessities. He warned that further delay in providing the basic necessities to the poor could result in human disaster.
Chinese experts: The team of Chinese experts started training of Pakistani doctors on Covid-19 case detection, prevention and clinical management at King Edward Medical University under the supervision of Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid here Sunday.
The Chinese experts led by Mr Minghui held technical sessions. Mr Li Fengsen, Lu Dongmei, Song Yunlin, Enwer Nasiroula, Zhang Li, Meng Cunren and Liu Wanli delivered lectures on their respective areas of expertise and shared experience of controlling the Pandemic in Wuhan, China. They emphasised that social distancing and isolation of confirmed and suspected patients was the key.
Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid thanked the Chinese government for sending their experts to Pakistan.
