ISLAMABAD: Renowned scientist Dr Samar Mabarakmand Sunday said that the nation would receive electricity at one-third of the current rate through the Thar coal project, adding that the statement of Federal Minister Ahmad Mukhtar on the Thar power project was biased.

Dr Samar expressed these views while talking to The News on Sunday. He said the Underground Coal Gasification Thar project would help the nation save billions of dollar annually, which could then he spent on the import of coal and oil.

He said electricity would be obtained at the rate of Rs6 per unit through coal from Thar and at Rs12 per unit through imported coal and Rs15 per unit from oil. Dr Samar said real and up to date information about the Thar Coal Project was not delivered to the federal minister.

Dr Samar invited Mukhtar to come and visit the Thar project like the prime minister, the chief minister Sindh and other federal ministers.
