ISLAMABAD: The police have booked a retired army officer (claiming to be Imam Mehdi) for pressuring Nirman Saleem, Pakistan’s first female astronaut, to marry him. Nirma Saleem, living in Abu Dhabi, lodged a written complaint with the ministry of interior, saying a retired Major, Hafeezullah, was harassing her to marry him.

 

The ministry sent the complaint to the legal branch of the Islamabad Police, which recommended lodging of FIR against the accused. Following the recommendation of the legal branch, the case was referred to Secretariat police station and an FIR (No. 116) has been lodged against the accused under sections 295-A and 509 PPC.

 

The police authorities have confirmed the report, saying the complaint was lodged one and a half month back and the police have registered the FIR on the recommendation of its legal branch.
