To the dismay of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pervez Khattak instead of paying attention to development and bringing reforms – the promises on which the PTI won its mandate – spent all his time and energy including that of his cabinet members in dharnas. If the CM had the interests of his province dear to him he would have distanced himself from the dharna and avoided confrontation.
Moreover, why did the chief minister spurn Nawaz Sharif’s offer to launch and fund the metro-bus project in Peshawar? Why did he make it an ego problem and in the process deprive the people of Peshawar a very useful project that would be beneficial to the lower middle class? The KP government should not insist on the mass transit system utilising the railway land because neither is this feasible nor will it resolve the traffic problem. The KP CM is advised to cooperate with the federal government and concentrate on developing hydel projects and exploring oil and gas reserves in the province.
