According to Unesco, Pakistan has the world’s second highest number of children out of school, reaching 5.1 million in 2010. Moreover, two-thirds of out-of-school children are girls – over three million.
In view of this alarming situation we need immediate steps to improve the status of women’s education in the country. Billions of rupees are spent on education annually but the goal – education for all – has not been achieved so far. No one but successive governments and corrupt politicians are responsible for this abysmal situation.
