The win of the Indian cricket team against a strong South African line-up in the World Cup has shattered certain myths. It was generally believed that the Indians were only good on their home grounds. But they outplayed the world top team with a big margin on bouncy wickets.
Another myth was that Indian bowling was weak. The world’s top-ranked batsmen like De Villiers, De Cock and Amla looked clueless against the Indian bowlers. Teams like New Zealand, Ireland, Afghanistan and Bangladesh have improved tremendously and have acquired the potential to beat any top ranking team. Instead of making the captain of the Pakistani team the scapegoat, we should search see why our team performed so badly. As a novice to the game of cricket, I feel our coaches have not groomed our players adequately for this World Cup.
