KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) contacted Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and has directed the PHF officials to appear before them to answer some questions, ‘The News’ learnt on Saturday.
Informed sources said that NAB contacted the PHF headquarters in Lahore during the last week. The PHF, in response, sought some time as they are busy in the PHF congress meeting following a change of command in the country’s hockey governing body.
It is expected that the PHF representatives would now meet NAB officials in the first or second week of September, the sources added.
It could not be ascertained as to why the NAB officials contacted the PHF but according to the sources, they wanted details regarding its operational structure, funding, financial management and audit.
The PHF has been going through a financial crisis and the federal government denied it funds during its previous management.
An audit of the hockey’s governing body is also being conducted by Auditor General Pakistan these days. The audit committee also visited Karachi to carry out audit of the PHF-owned Hockey Club of Pakistan (HCP).
