KARACHI: The Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Federation (PBSA) has announced that the Ministry of Interior has issued the necessary clearance to the Indian squad to participate in the Jubilee Insurance World 6-Reds and Team Championships 2015 for men, women and masters, due to be held here from August 6 to 15.
Alamgir Shaikh, President, PBSA, made the announcement on behalf of the Association, expressing gratitude to the officials of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) and the Ministry of Interior for having facilitated in doing the needful. The issuance of the No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the Indian players and officials has cleared the way for their participation in the mega Karachi event in which cueists from as many as 18 countries will be showcasing their skills over 10 days.
The Indian contingent is expected to comprise of 18 cueists and four officials while Capt P V K Mohan, President, International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF), will be coming over as a special guest.
It may be recalled that the PBSA had advised the Indian cue sports authorities to send the names and passport details of their squad more than a couple of months ago in order to go through the lengthy procedures in obtaining the necessary clearances from the government departments
In fact India was the first team to have confirmed its entry in the event. They had submitted the required details of their probable players/coaches and officials at the designated time.
Initially Sourav Kothari, Brijesh Damani, Kamal Chawla, Ketan Chawla, Varun Kumar Jaganathan, Varun Madan, Rahul Sachdev, Aneesh Saini, Pankaj Arjan Advani, Manan Chandra, Mohammad Faisal Khan, Dharminder Singh Lilly, Shahbaz Adil Khan, Devendra Shreekant Joshi, Sanjay Shivaji Sawant, Manoj Kumar Kothari and Subash Agarwal were nominated for the Men’s and Masters events while the women squad comprised of Vidya Visivanathan Pillai, Arantxa Sanchis, Neena Praveen, Suniti Damani, R. Umadevi, Neeta Vikram Sanghvi, Amee Kamani, Judy Walia Kishinani and Chitra Magimairajan with Derek Sippy and Yasin Raza Merchant being the coaches.
