Kohinoor Boys School lacks basic facilities, including furniture, class rooms and clean drinking water, for over 1,000 enrolled students, says a survey conducted by Youth Accountability Ambassadors of Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO).

SSDO raised a campaign for provision of missing facilities to ‘Government Boys School Kohinoor Mills’ that does not have basic facilities for students. The school has more than 1,000 enrolled students but they do not have class rooms, clean drinking water furniture. The students are getting education under trees and teachers are using blackboards by hanging them on the stem of tree. It was said by Rafia Malik, Coordinator of Sustainable Social Development Organization, while sharing report of survey with media.

Rafia Malik said that the government of Punjab and City District Government Rawalpindi failed to resolve the issue of Kohinoor School since a decade. The student does not have the basic facilities in the school which shows that the government of Punjab does not have commitment with the education reforms in Punjab.

Syed Kausar Abbas, a social activist when contacted, he said that it is the responsibility of all governments to provide free and quality education to all the students between the age of 5 to 16 years under article 25-A of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. He said Punjab Government and Rawalpindi District Government should immediately take notice of all schools that lacks basic facilities.
