NAB arrests ex-project director DHA City in Rs16 bn scam
LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Lahore, on Friday arrested Brigadier (retd) Khalid Nazir Butt, former project director DHA City Lahore, in Rs16 billion scam. According to the NAB spokesman, the accused signed a lopsided joint venture agreement with Globaco, which was discriminatory in nature and was entirely disadvantageous to the DHA, causing it a huge financial loss.
Furthermore, the spokesman added, Globaco launched the project with the implied consent of the accused without acquisition of 10,000 kanals of land and getting the Master Plan approved from the DHA executive board, which was in complete violation of the approved minutes of the board meeting.
Resultantly, he said, the general public was deprived of its entitlement and failed to get possession of their purchased plots in the DHA City scheme.
“The accuse thus committed the offence of misuse of authority, criminal breach of trust, cheating public at large and misappropriation of funds. The accused will be produced before an accountability court on Saturday (today) for obtaining his physical remand,” he concluded.
