Islamabad
Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has finalised a comprehensive plan for addressing the longstanding issues of its low-grade employees, enabling them to deliver best possible services to students and achieving the target of quality education.
“When I took over the charge as vice-chancellor, there were some pending issues in the university awaiting for special attention from the last twenty years which could not be resolved overnight, surely all genuine demands would be addressed during my tenure as Vice-Chancellor and the university would be turned as a top-most educational institution in the Asian region,’ said Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui at the prize distribution ceremony for the gardeners on winning 1st position in the ‘flower show’ that was organised by CDA in collaboration with Islamabad Horticultural Society.
He said that employees’ welfare will always be his top priority. He said that he hopes they would also take care of their duties and responsibilities in the same spirit. He sought the support of the employees in reconstructing the image of the university, providing quality education to the people at their doo-step.
The vice-chancellor finalised a strategy to resolve the issues step by step as per their importance. The plan includes up-gradation of medical and housing facilities and employees’ promotions to their next grade. As per the announcement, the Departmental Promotion Committee will meet on February 17. To fill the vacant posts as per rules, regulation and transparency, a situation vacant advertisement is being published within a week. A separate room will be allotted and handed over to gardeners for sitting and get together by the mid of this month.
To meet the demand of the employees living in residential colony, Community Center will also be constructed in the colony to enhance the living and recreation facilities and holding family functions that includes anniversaries, marriage ceremonies and condolence references etc.
