PIA protest, KP governor’s resignation discussed at BD HC’s farewell dinner

ISLAMABAD: The guests in the dinner hosted by Luqman Ali Afzal to bid farewell outgoing High Commissioner Bangladesh for Pakistan Suhrab Hussain were upset about ongoing strike and protest by the PIA workers that had stopped the operation of the national airlines.

The dinner was arranged in Monal House and it was attended by large number of ambassadors and high commissioners posted in Islamabad, elite of the twin-cites and senior officials of the government.

Federal Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain, Leader of the Opposition in Senate Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan Chaudhry, former deputy speaker National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi, Chairman Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) Rauf Alam, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Eissa Abdullah Al-Basha Al-Nuaimi and about forty envoys attended the dinner where sumptuous food was served.

Luqman Ali Afzal and his elegant wife received the guests at the outer gate of the Monal House. The issues supposed to come up for discussion in the upcoming sessions of the National Assembly and Senate was also subject of gossip. The National Assembly will meet on Monday next while the Senate will assemble tomorrow (Wednesday).

The guests wanted to ascertain the real cause/causes of stepping down of the governor KP. The guests weren’t prepared to believe in the stated reasons of the resignation of Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan Abbasi who has cited personal reason for quitting. The probable successor of the outgoing governor was also under discussion.

Suhrab Hussain, who is leaving in a couple of weeks for Dhaka, said that his country was keen to maintain friendly ties with the countries of South Asia.Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain, Chaudhry Aitazaz Ahsan and Faisal Karim Kundi presented gifts to the high commissioner and his spouse on behalf of Luqman Afzal and his spouse.
