The Lahore High Court Monday overruled an objection on a petition seeking directions to the federal government to take back Kohinoor Diamond from Queen Elizabeth-II of Great Britain and ordered fixing it for preliminary hearing before any bench.
Earlier, the LHC registrar had returned the petition by raising an objection on the maintainability of the petition by saying that the LHC had no jurisdiction to hear a case against British Queen. Barrister Syed Javed Iqbal Jaffree had moved the petition which came up for hearing as an objection case. The petitioner in his fresh petition stated that the LHC registrar office had no power to object.
