The construction of two degree colleges near Dhoke Syedan Chowk in Rawalpindi district has been going on for the last eight years. Though the basic structure of the buildings is complete, due to some political reasons the empty buildings never got the chance to hold classes. According to a rough estimate, Rs42 million have been spent on the infrastructure and construction of these colleges that have now become a second home for drug dealers and heroin junkies. The classrooms where thousands of students could have been accommodated and provided quality education give a deserted look or have been used as hideouts by criminals.
Students have to travel around the city to get higher education due to the incompetence of the provincial government. The authorities concerned are requested to take notice of the matter and resolve the issue as soon as possible.
