Unscheduled loadshedding intensifies in Rawalpindi

Unscheduled loadshedding is intensifying day-by-day in different localities of city and cantonment, particularly at Adiala Road, Defence Road, Caltex Road, Sher Zaman Colony, Rawat and Gulistan Colony. The helpless residents are trying to know the real picture as they are facing unscheduled loadshedding day and night in the name of major fault in main supply lines or forced loadshedding.
On the other hand, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) in its statement claimed that in forced loadshedding issue the department was helpless.
Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) Superintendent and In-Charge Linesmen have admitted that consumers of different areas facing forced loadshedding. He told ‘The News’ that sometime feeder trip when load increases. “We are trying to provide electricity to public for maximum time but we cannot do anything against forced loadshedding,” they claimed.
The residents are facing miserable situation even in peak winter season due to unscheduled loadshedding in day and night times. According to details, the affected residents faced unscheduled loadshedding, for example yesterday they faced power shutdown from 6:45 a.m. to 7:50 a.m., light appeared at 7:50 a.m. but for some time and again disappeared from 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 am. The light again disappeared at 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Light appeared at 12:00 noon but disappeared at 12:34 p.m. The light again disappeared from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. but again disappeared from 3:15 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. The light again disappeared from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The same situation was at night.
The concerned authorities are teasing public day and night through unscheduled loadshedding, fluctuations in voltage. After every 15 minutes or half an hour, light disappears creating difficulties for poor consumers. Due to voltage fluctuation many residents got their electric appliances damaged.
The angry residents of affected areas including Adiala Road, Defense Road, Caltex Road, Sher Zaman Colony, Dehri, Tahli Morri, Mumtaz Colony, Dhoke Juma, Mubarak Lane, Jarahi, Munawar Colony, Askari 7, Askari 14 and several other localities strongly protested against Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco). They have appealed to prime minister and minister for water and power for taking an immediate action against this situation.
The residents said that unscheduled and prolonged power outages have made life of a common man miserable. A number of people told ‘The News’ that long duration and unscheduled loadshedding has disturbed their routine life.
After increase in the loadshedding, water supply in the city has been suspended as majority of tube-wells are running on electricity and diesel.
