National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in collaboration with National Society for Earthquake Technology – Nepal (NSET), Network of Disaster Management Practitioners Pakistan (NDMP) and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) / Office for Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA) held a country planning meeting to plan out the implementation of Programme for Enhancement of Emergency Response (PEER) in Pakistan, which is to run from 2016 – 2019.
The meeting was attended by secretary general of Pakistan Red Crescent Society, representatives from NSET Nepal, USAID, National Health Emergency Preparedness Response Network (NHEPRN), PDMA Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, GBDMA Gilgit-Baltistan, FDMA FATA, SDMA Azad Jammu & Kashmir / Rescue 1122, Rescue 1122 Punjab, Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Network of Disaster Management Practitioners (NDMP) and CDA USAR Teams.
NDMA Chairman Major General Asghar Nawaz during his opening remarks expressed that the 4th Programme termed as PEER Stage IV will help to effectively enhance response capacities of disaster’s first responders, medical professionals and local communities so as to effectively manage and save precious lives.
