Centre’s notification will expire on Feb 4; home department has sent summary to CM, requesting 60-day extension in special powers

KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to issue a notification of extension in special powers of Rangers, it is learnt here on Monday. The earlier notification was issued by the federal government.
The Sindh Assembly had through a resolution made the Rangers’ powers conditional and in the light of this motion the provincial government wrote a letter to the centre, saying that the paramilitary force be perform duty as per the assembly resolution.
Sources said that now the matter has been settled and the Sindh government will issue a notification in this regard. The notification issued earlier by the centre will expire on Feb 4. The sources said that the home department has sent a summary to the chief minister, requesting 60-day extension in the special powers of Rangers. They said the Sindh government will issue a notification without any conditions.
