Three terrorists of banned outfit arrested
LAHORE
Officials of intelligence agencies arrested three terrorists from the Samanabad area on Tuesday. All the three terrorists identified as Nawaz, Waheed and Saifullah belonged to a defunct organisation, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, and were involved in attacks on media houses. The arrested terrorists had hurled crackers at a media house in Gulberg, Lahore and other media houses out of Lahore District. It was reported that maps, walkie talkie sets and pictures of media houses were also recovered from their possession. The arrested terrorists were dispatched to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.
Man dies: A 28-year-old bike rider was killed by a speeding trailer in the limits of Islampura police station on Tuesday. The victim identified as Fraz was on his way on a bike when a recklessly driven trailer ran over him near Suggian Bridge, as a result of which, he received fatal injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital where he died. Police removed the body to mortuary.
FOUND DEAD: A 35-year-old man was recovered dead from the limits of Kot Lakhpat police station on Tuesday.Police claimed that the man, yet to be identified, was an addict who might have died of excessive use of drugs. Police shifted the body to morgue.
INJURED: A couple and their two children and a car mechanic received injuries in two separate road accidents here on Tuesday.A man, his wife and two children received injuries when a speeding car hit their bike on Thokar Niaz Baig Chowk. They were taken to hospital where their condition was said to be out of danger.
In another incident, a car mechanic was injured by a car in the Johar Town area. The mechanic identified as Wahid Khan was checking some mechanical fault in a car parked alongside the road when a speeding car hit him, as a result of which, he sustained injuries. The car driver drove away from the scene. The injured car mechanic was rushed to hospital where his condition was said to be out of danger.
CRACKDOWN: CTO Lahore directed DSPs to launch a crackdown against motorcycle rickshaws besides taking action against underage drivers and wrongly parked vehicles.Addressing a meeting here on Tuesday, the CTO said that the traffic police had taken action against 11,559 underage drivers until now. He directed the SPs to direct the wardens to keep vigil on suspects and suspected vehicles.
ARRESTED: Shadman police arrested a car lifter from the parking lot of Services Hospital on Tuesday.The arrested car lifter identified as Alif Khan hailed from Afghanistan. The accused had lifted a car from the Defence area and parked at Services Hospital’s parking lot.
ACCIDENTS: Total 561 road traffic accidents were reported in Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which eight lives were lost and 481 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant districts.
