Petition against sugar mill admin

BHAKKAR: A writ petition has been filed against the administration of a sugar mill and others at Darya Khan.
In his petition filed under Section 22/A in the Darya Khan additional sessions judge court, Sheikh Muhammad Arif advocate, an office-bearer of the Darya Khan Bar, said that the mill administration had not adopted precautionary measures and the residents of the nearby areas were suffering from various diseases due to smoke emitting by the mill. The petitioner also made government officers respondents including Darya Khan TMO, DO Wild Life, Forests and DO Environment, for not taking action against the mill administration. Arif also claimed that 400 pigeons were killed at the start of crushing season due to the same reason. The court has summoned the concerned officers on Jan 12 (today).
