Youth killed in clash between two groups

GUJRANWALA: A youth was killed and two sustained injuries in a clash between two rival groups in Tatlewali on Friday.

Reportedly, men of old rivals Gujjar and Rana groups exchanged harsh words and men of Gujjar group opened fire. As a result, Zulifqar, Rashid and Manzoor sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital where Zulifqar died.

FOOLPROOF FLOOD ARRANGEMENTS: A meeting of District Emergency Board and District Disaster Management Authority was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Sohail Khawaja and Station Commander Colonel Khalid. The DC directed heads of departments concerned to make foolproof flood arrangements in view of recent monsoon rains.

District Emergency Officer Rescue-1122 Mian Rifat Zia and Secretary Red Crescent Muhammad Bilal Butt briefed the participants on the guidelines of PDMA Punjab regarding flood management in the district and the current flood situation.

The DC said Pakistan Army, Rescue-1122, Civil Defense, Livestock, WASA, GWMC, Red Crescent and other agencies concerned have been deployed to deal with any emergency situation in the district. We will be on high alert to provide immediate assistance to the people while maintaining mutual contact. The meeting was attended by Colonel Usman, Captain Jawad, Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Hussain Ahmad Raza and other officers of government departments. The DC directed the XEN Drainage to keep a close watch on water situation in rivers and Nullahs and also immediately complete the desalting work of canals. He also asked the CEO Health Authority and the Director Livestock to set up relief camps, to save the lives of animals and human beings in case of possible floods.

CRACKDOWN ON UNAUTHORISED PETROL OUTLETS: The Nowshera Virkan Assistant Commissioner (AC) Friday launched a crackdown on unauthorised petrol outlets and sale and overcharging of petrol. The AC sealed various such outlets and imposed fine on their owners. The AC visited different localities and sealed 10 petrol selling outlets.

He also impounded machinery of four unauthorized petrol outlets.
