SUKKUR: The Jamshoro Police have arrested four persons, including two female teachers, on suspicion of murdering Prof Ishtiaq Abro of FG Public School, Malir Cantt, Karachi. Prof Ishtiaq Abro was abducted from Qasimabad, Hyderabad, and brutally killed four months ago.

The accused included Principal Samreen Jalbani, FG Public School Malir Cantt Karachi, teacher Zubaida Sethar, bus conductor-cum-peon Aamir Gopang, and Abdul Wahid, resident of Pishin. The police arrested Aamir Gopang from Karachi Cantt, who confessed to his crime of kidnapping and killing Ishtiaq Abro.

During the investigation, he revealed that he kidnapped the victim from Hyderabad and brought him to a house in Sindh University Housing Society, Jamshoro, where he killed Prof. Ishtiaq in connivance with his accomplices. After mutilating the body parts, the body was stuffed into a gunny bag and then thrown into a canal in Jhirik district. The police claimed to have recovered the body from the canal on 20 July.

Meanwhile, the brother of the deceased, Shahid Ali Abro, also nominated the principal and teacher in his complaint, stating that the vehicle of teacher Zubaida was used in the murder, while the Principal Samreen Jalbani was also involved. The police said the accused women had appeared at the Jamshoro Police Station for the investigation and later they were allowed to go with the condition that they would cooperate in the investigation.

Professor Abro’s brother cited the accused Aamir Gopang as having said that Prof Ishtiaq had caught them red-handed while they were making a child porn video and reported the incident to the principal. Later, the professor left for Hyderabad.

He asserted that his brother was killed because he refused to remain silent on the issue. He demanded the authorities to provide justice and a fair inquiry in the case and alleged the police officials were supporting the accused.
