MARDAN: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Mardan had to postpone the mathematics paper of the 11th grade scheduled for Friday at 9am as the pupils were mistakenly given the question paper of 9th grade.
The BISE Mardan officials asked the students to go home and return to take the paper the same day at 2pm.
The students had to return home without taking the paper and were asked to return to the examination centres at 2pm.
The mathematics paper of 11th grade was supposed to take place in Mardan, Nowshera and Swabi on Friday at 9am.
The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Mardan is conducting the examination.
When the students sat for examination, the invigilators opened the sealed envelopes to distribute the question papers among the students. But the envelopes contained the mathematics paper of grade nine.
The examination staff approached the board officials to seek their guidance. They were told to ask the students to go home and return at 2pm the same day to take the paper.
BISE Mardan Chairman Imtiaz Ayub told the media that under the government policy, the board was conducting the 11th and 9th grades examinations simultaneously, which led to the mistake. He added that the board staff stays up all night so they didn’t notice the difference between XI and IX.
