Police retrieve 42-kanal land
LAHORE:Cantt Division police retrieved around 42-kanal agriculture land from illegal occupants in the Batapur area here on Wednesday.
The accused identified as Azam, Ameer and Amjad had illegally occupied the land of a citizen, Zahid, since 2009 and stolen agricultural machines. FIRs in this regard were registered in Batapur police station. CCPO Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said Lahore police had retrieved lands and properties of more than 454 citizens comprising more than 4,979 kanal worth Rs72.92 billion. He said the Lahore police had successfully managed to return Rs85 million of 118 affectees of a private housing society. More than seven hundred criminals including land grabbers and goons were also arrested and involved in illegal possession of properties during the last seven months, he added.
ARMS SEIZED: Around 57 cases of arms seizure were registered by the Lahore police during the current week. Hundreds of bullets including 4 rifles, 5 guns and 46 pistols were recovered from the possession of outlaws. Around 14 cases were registered by City Division police, 12 by Cantt Division police, 4 by Civil Lines Division police, 14 by Sadar Division police, 8 by Iqbal Town Division police and five cases were registered by Model Town Division police.
SIX OUTLAWS ARRESTED: At least six outlaws were arrested from e-police posts during checking at entry and exit points of the city. The outlaws include three proclaimed offenders, two court absconders and one other accused. Cases of theft, robbery and bogus cheque were registered against Riaz, Azam and Babar. The court absconders were identified as Zahoor and Rehman against whom different cases were registered. One Hamza was arrested on hooliganism charges and using a green number plate on his vehicle.
17 DIE ON ROADS: Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) responded to 846 road crashes in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these accidents, 17 people died whereas 915 were injured. Out of these, 571 seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals. Whereas 344 minor injured were treated on the spot by Rescue Medical Teams.
IMPOSTERs: Cantt police Wednesday arrested two youths for wearing uniform similar to Elite Force and recovered two 223-bore guns from their possession.
The accused were identified as Ghulam Farid and Kashif. The video of the accused displaying arms in public on Canal Road went viral on which the police immediately took action and arrested them.
