LAHORE: Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority (PAPA) was working day and night to complete 1500 water centres across the province by the end of this year.
This was revealed in a project review meeting of PAPA held here on Monday. The meeting was chaired by its Chairman Dr Shakeel Khan while Chief Executive Officer Syed Zahid Aziz accompanied him. Other senior officials of PAPA were also present at the occasion.
Providing clean water in rural areas of Punjab was one of the top priorities of the government, said Dr Shakeel. Chief Executive Officer Syed Zahid Aziz while briefing the meeting said by the end of this year, more than 1,500 water filtration plants will be completed and up to 7.6 million people will benefit from these water centres.
Zahid Aziz said the province has been divided into three parts and teams were formed in North, Central and South Punjab for smooth execution of PAPA’s water projects. He said instructions have already been issued to all field teams to speed up work while all the relevant directors will give briefings on a weekly basis about the under-construction projects.
