Irrigation dept launches e-procurement system
LAHORE:The provincial Irrigation Department has developed an e-procurement system with the assistance of Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB).
According to an announcement, the new system has the capacity for e-enlistment of contractors in respective categories, receipt of online bids, their evaluation and announcement of the successful/eligible bidder.
For FY 2021-22, all contractors of the irrigation department will be required to enlist and bid for works under the new procurement system hosted on the official website. Minister for Irrigation Mohsin Khan Leghari inaugurated the new system while a training workshop for Executive Engineers and Contractors of Irrigation Department at Arfa Karim Tower was arranged in this connection. A one-day training workshop was organised by PITB for the contractors’ e-enlistment in the e-Procurement System developed in collaboration with Punjab Irrigation Department. Chief Engineers, Divisional XEN’s irrigation and the contractors were among the attendees. The session was chaired by Punjab Irrigation Minister Muhammad Mohsin Khan Leghari. Secretary Irrigation Saif Anjum, PITB DG e-Governance Sajid Latif and JD Ali Zeb were also present at the occasion.
DG e-Governance gave a brief on the system while highlighting its benefits for the department. Punjab Irrigation Minister lauded PITB for its efforts and encouraged the participants to embrace technology for improving performance and service delivery.
