EVIAN, France: Ireland’s Leona Maguire equalled the record score for a major with a final round ten under par 61 at the Evian Championship.
The LPGA rookie started with three birdies and recorded more at the seventh and eighth to reach the turn in 30.
She then picked up another shot at the tenth and birdied the final four holes to equal the record set by Kom Hyo Joo on her way to winning the 2014 Evian Cmapionship and then matched by Jeongeun Lee6 in the second round this week.
Maguire, whose performance will boost her bid for a Solheim Cup debut for Europe in America next month, finished on 13 under par and in with a shot of the title.
