Keeping in view the growing number of coronavirus cases and the spread of the Delta variant of Covid-19, the Sindh government has decided to ask the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to block mobile phone SIMs of unvaccinated people.
Surveys have shown that in developed countries, the rate of Covid-19 infections is the highest in those places where only a few people are fully vaccinated. In the US, the highest number of Covid cases were reported in Florida, Texas, and Missouri this week. The government of Pakistan should also take appropriate steps to vaccinate people so that everyone can return to normal life as reported in many other countries.

One believes that before deciding to block SIMs, the provincial government should see if it has the potential to handle the large number of people who will visit vaccination centres to get vaccinated.
Previously, many people were turned away from vaccination centres which were out of vaccine doses. The Sindh government has to pay attention to these important issues before taking stringent measures against unvaccinated people.
