In an attempt to fight against the fourth wave of Covid-19, the Sindh education authorities announced the closure of all public and private educational institutes. As per the notification, the annual examinations will be conducted as per the schedule. Keeping in view the current Covid-19 situation, this decision is much appreciated. However, it is difficult to understand why teachers are supposed to come to schools on a daily basis. Are teachers immune to the virus? June and July are the hottest months of the year. This year, teachers weren’t given summer vacations.
In different parts of Sindh, teachers have to walk long distances to reach their schools. In this scorching heat, they set out of their houses to be present at work. Why is the government not facilitating teachers? Such unfair decisions certainly discourage teachers. The authorities should allow teachers to stay at home at least during summer.
