Pak athletes, officials celebrate Eid in Village
KARACHI: All the players and officials of Pakistan’s contingent on Tuesday celebrated Eid-ul-Azha at the Olympic Village in Tokyo.
They offered Eid prayer at the village and congratulated each other on this auspicious occasion. As many as six athletes and six officials of Pakistan’s contingent are currently at the Olympic Village.
Some of the players and officials are scheduled to leave for Tokyo on Wednesday (today) and Thursday. The contingent’s chef de mission Brigadier Zaheer Akhtar and admin officer Col Nasir Tung will fly out of Islamabad for Tokyo on Wednesday while on the same day weightlifter Talha Talib and his coach cum manager Hafiz Imran Butt will leave for Tokyo from Lahore.
On Thursday (tomorrow) athletes Arshad Nadeem and Najma Parveen, accompanied by officials Fayyaz Hussain Bukhari and Shagufta Noreen, will leave Lahore for Tokyo. Japan-based judoka Shah Hussain will enter the Olympic Village on Thursday (tomorrow). Olympic Games will begin on July 23.
