Al-Ashraf Society, adjoining areas without water for last 30 days
Residents of most of the societies of the KDA's Scheme 33 staged a demonstration on Thursday, demanding of the KWSB administration to release water forthwith, otherwise they would block the Super Highway to pressurise the government to accept their demand.
The protesters said residents of Al-Ashraf Society, Quetta Town and the adjoining areas in the KDA's Scheme 33 had not been getting water for over 30 days, as the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board had failed to provide them drinking water.
They said the people were longing for water, but water was not being supplied to the residents of housing societies because of the establishment of a cattle market on the Super Highway. They alleged that KWSB officials were involved in the artificial shortage of water. Residents said a valve man was demanding bribes for the supply of water.
