Inquiry ordered against ex-SHO for owning expensive vehicle

The East Zone chief for the Karachi Range of the Sindh police has ordered an inquiry against a former station house officer (SHO) of the Shah Latif police station for possessing an expensive vehicle.

East DIG Saqib Ismail Memon has ordered an inquiry against ex-SHO Naik Muhammad Khosa, directing the Landhi Division superintendent of police to complete the investigation within seven days and submit a report.

The order states that it must be established who owned the vehicle, and how did it come to be in the possession of the former SHO, while it should be verified whether the vehicle contained public or private weapons or not.

The inquiry order mentions a piece of news reported by the electronic media on July 13 and circulated on social media that a private vehicle belonging to Sub-Inspector Khosa was stolen along with his official weapon, which was subsequently recovered.

The order states that to find the facts, the Landhi SP has been nominated as the inquiry officer, who is to ascertain the ownership of the vehicle and how it was in the possession of Khosa, and to verify the presence of his official or private weapon in the vehicle, along with their licence. The inquiry officer will also check the contradiction in the police wireless message aired by the former SHO and the subsequent clarification issued by him through a statement on social media.

The inquiry officer will further ascertain the role of the former SHO in the whole episode, and fix responsibility of misconduct, then furnish his inquiry report to the DIG’s office — all within a week.
