An odd couple

Rains and Karachi don’t really blend together. Instead of turning out to be showers of blessing, Karachi’s rains usually end up being dangerous and destructive. Karachi has become one of the world’s worst places to live in – with its poor infrastructure, prolonged loadshedding, water problem, non-existent sewage system, scorching weather, traffic congestion, and broken roads. Karachi already has enough problems on its plate, and it seems that it isn’t prepared for one more problem – the damage caused by heavy rains. It is concerning that Karachi hasn’t prepared itself for the ‘after-effects’ of monsoon rains. It still doesn’t have a proper drainage system which can quickly clear roads. Flooded streets and roads usually become the breeding ground of several insects which carry life-threatening diseases. Government officials have been neglecting Karachi for many years now, and, thanks to them, we’re on the edge of devastation. Karachi is the country’s largest city and an economic hub. Ideally, the government should have paid proper attention to the city to attract investors and tourists. It is extremely important to develop a city which has the potential to generate a large amount of revenue for the country. The higher authorities should look into this matter and save Karachi before it’s too late.
