COVID-19 positivity jumps to over 6.5pc in ICT

Islamabad : Coronavirus illness, COVID-19 claimed another life from Islamabad Capital Territory in the last 24 hours taking the death toll from ICT to 784 though no death due to the illness was reported from Rawalpindi district from where a total of 1,000 patients had already died of COVID-19.

It is important that the total number of patients so far reported from the twin cities crossed the figure of 109000 on Monday. Confirmation of another 141 patients positive for COVID-19 from ICT and Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours took the tally to 109,023 of which 105185 patients have so far recovered from the illness while 1784 have lost their lives. On Monday, the number of active cases belonging to the region was 2054.

The positivity rate of COVID-19 has been recorded as 6.67 per cent in the federal capital in the last 24 hours, which is alarming. It is worth mentioning here that the positivity rate of the infection from ICT had dropped down to below one per cent two weeks back.

Data collected by ‘The News’ reveals that as many as 117 new patients were reported from ICT in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 83,764 of which 81324 had recovered from the disease. The number of active cases of the illness from ICT that is on a continuous rise for the last 11 days has reached 1,656 on Monday. As many as 46 patients have recovered from the illness from ICT in the last 24 hours while 70 active cases have been added to the existing pool.

From Rawalpindi district, another 24 patients have been tested positive for COVID-19 taking the tally to 25,259 of which 23,861 have achieved cure. On Monday, the number of active cases of COVID-19 belonging to Rawalpindi was 398 according to the District Health Office Rawalpindi.

The number of admitted patients from Rawalpindi district at the healthcare facilities was 35 on Monday while 363 confirmed patients of the disease were in isolation at their homes.
