DUBAI: A loud explosion was heard in the United Arab Emirates city of Dubai late on Wednesday, an AFP correspondent said.
At least three residents in the area of the blast reported windows and doors in their homes were shaken as a result of the incident. The cause of the blast could not be ascertained immediately. Two fire trucks and other emergency vehicles could be seen heading south of Dubai on the main road that leads to Abu Dhabi, one Reuters correspondent said. Unconfirmed reports indicate that the blast occurred in an oil tanker that was docked at the Jebel Ali seaport in Dubai.
