Institutions to be made autonomous: minister
LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Housing and Urban Development Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed has said that the staff and management of Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) Lahore made history in the last three years in terms of performance, revenue collection and computerisation of office affairs. The organisation that used to face criticism all the time was now at the forefront of all the institutions, the minister said. He expressed these views on the occasion of distributing dues among the retiring Wasa employees here on Tuesday. Wasa Vice-Chairman Sheikh Imtiaz and Managing Director Syed Zahid Aziz were also present on the occasion. The minister said that the aim of the PTI government was to make the institutions autonomous and strong on the basis of merit.
“Employees in the government institutions usually go for salaries and pensions after retirement, but Wasa Lahore has set an example by paying their dues on the day of retirement, on which I pay tribute to the administration. The revenue collection in three years reached Rs250 to 750 million which is commendable,” he stated. The minister announced giving awards to 10 employees who had shown the best performance in each town.
