Typhoid conjugate vaccination continues
LAHORE: Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Sara Aslam has said second phase of typhoid conjugate vaccine campaign continues successfully. The secretary in a statement here on Wednesday said union councils in respective districts are providing facility of typhoid conjugate vaccination. Vaccination teams will provide vaccines in 24 districts of Punjab to vaccinate nearly 71,13,876 children between the age of 9 months to 15 years against typhoid. Whereas target allocated for this campaign was 66,09,204 children. Average coverage of vaccination remained 108 percent with good markup rate of success, she said. Secretary P&SHD added, “WHO, Unicef and other international organisations played a vital role in the success. With their collaboration, Pakistan became the first country in the world to introduce the World Health Organization (WHO)-recommended typhoid conjugate vaccine (TCV) into its routine immunisation programme and it is totally free of cost”.
