Rawalpindi : Hot weather coupled with long hours of loadshedding in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have created numerous problems for people belonging to different walks of life.

Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has given 6-hours loadshedding schedule during the day and night in different localities due to less power generation in the country.

IESCO is facing a 300 MW electricity shortfall due to less power generation in the country.

The total consumption of electricity in IESCO

region is 2200 MW but it is only getting 1900 MW electricity therefore consumers are facing load management.

However, the sudden loadshedding of electricity during past week has aggravated problems for people who have been stricken by hot weather.

IESCO Spokesman Raja Asim Nazir told ‘The News’ that consumers are facing loadshedding due to power shortfall. “We have distributed loadshedding schedule equally in all areas. Initially, we have made a 6-hours loadshedding schedule in urban and rural areas during the day and night, and it will end very soon.

There are 1150 feeders in IESCO jurisdiction that will bear the loadshedding schedule equally.

The reliable sources said that loadshedding hours in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad will increase after some days because of less power generation. The IESCO shortfall will increase to 500 MW in the coming days, the sources claimed.

Meanwhile, Adiala Sub-Division complaint office was like a battlefield Monday night where hundreds of consumers gathered here. The IESCO officials ran away from the complaint office because local residents were very angry. The light disappeared at about 2:50 am and was restored at about 7:45 am on Tuesday morning. The residents of affected areas of Defense Road, Hill View Lane, Tulsa, Dhok Juma, Adiala Road, Kalyal, Jarahi, and Mubarak Lane gathered outside the complaint office but no official was there to listen to them.

Executive Engineer (XEN) Tariqabad Anwar Bhatti said that they were observing loadshedding due to less power generation in the country. “There was a serious fault in Adiala feeder therefore consumers were facing long hours of power blackout,” he said.
