MANSEHRA: Authorities have sent heavy machinery and officials to Dubair area of Lower Kohistan where bridges, roads, electricity turbines, water supply schemes and indigenous chair lifts were washed away in flash floods last month.
“Thanks to the chief minister who ordered the revival of the damaged infrastructure and reviewed the work progress of the Kalam-Kohistan road being built under the prime minister’s vision to promote tourism in Hazara and Malakand with Rs4 billion funds,” Abdul Ghafar, the MPA from Kohistan, told a press conference in Oghi on Sunday.
He said that though shovels and excavators were moved to the affected areas where the infrastructure was washed away in a flooding at a local stream for the emergency relief, the mega project would be initiated by July 10.
“I have met with the chief minister and apprised him about the situation on the ground where people of dozens of villages are marooned with the rest of the district owing to the infrastructure damages in recent floods,” said Ghafar.
He said that under the Prime Minister’s tourism vision the execution of Kalam-Kohistan road project was well underway with Rs4 billion cost phase wise.
“We expect completion of this road project, which is being carried out with the efforts of lawmakers from Kohistan and Malakand and would benefit people of both regions,” he said.
